This morning I had one of those magical mornings with my two girls, I felt like “Supermom”, everything was just “flowing”. I was woken up by my oldest that came in and whispered that she only wanted to “touch up” her nail polish before she went to day care (yes, she is only five), and off she went to do just that. The other one was singing in bed and was so warm and cuddly as I picked her up. From that, everything just happened so easily, the nappy change was a breeze, no squirming around like a worm while screaming her lungs out. Breakfast was peaceful with only half of the porridge on the floor and no spilled milk. Getting dressed for day care came about with no fuss, not like the other morning when both of them wanted to stay home and became all grumpy and stubborn and said “no” to everything that was suggested. Don’t you just love mornings like these? Why do you think days can be such total opposites? Can it be OUR attitude that reflects on our kids?
Anyway, it was so nice to see my Happy Kids and feel like a true superhero this morning. It got me thinking about how we as parents can help our kids to be happier. Below is an excerpt from our e-book “Raising Happy Kids” that has some fantastic tips and ideas on how you can guide your kids to happiness.
“All I want is for my kids to be happy”
Parents frequently say, “I just want my kids to be happy”. But we sometimes forget how to focus on happiness in our busy family lives.
Let’s think about what happiness consists of and how we can provide more of this gift for our precious children. In this e-book, you’ll learn new ideas as well as get useful reminders, plus suggestions for fun activities. What is happiness?
When you understand how true happiness develops, you can help your children find it, too. Happiness is within ourselves; it is within our control. That means we can teach our kids skills and attitudes that allow them to foster their own happiness.
Children are surrounded by all sorts of alluring images and ideas on TV, in the playground, and among peers. Wealth, fame, personal beauty, power, countless gadgets and toys – these don’t bring lasting happiness. In fact, chasing after these can even cause unhappiness. True happiness must be found within.
